Jacob Needleman defines the soul as the force of gathered attention, and this blog represents continuing progress toward focusing the many strands of my life into a more unified whole.
Professionally, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist-Associate. I am also the Guidance Counselor at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in Austin, Texas. I enjoy working with couples, families and adolescents — particularly the latter. I strive to help clients create a belief in the possibility of positive future outcomes — the best motivating force for change in the present.
I have also taught high school English, managed a comedy club, worked as a professional comic, voiced a number of computer games, performed in various theatrical productions, got beat up on Walker, Texas Ranger, and lit myself on fire in Richard Linklater’s Waking Life.
Now I spend most of the time chilling with my wife and two daughters. We play games, paint, draw, watch a lot of movies, and crack each other up.
I like to write. I usually jump from topic to topic before I’ve completely created a product, but that’s changing.
I like to think of this site as A Life in Progress.
